Pegler Yorkshire was pleased to host the first CIPHE round table at its innovation centre in Doncaster today.

Members from across the industry included;

Kevin Wellman – CEO CIPHE

Paul Williams – President CIPHE

Richard Soper - Director of Development CIPHE

Paul Bullivant – Commercial Director Plumbase

Dave Smith – CEO Valley Heating Services

Ian Puddick – Chief Plumbing Officer London Boiler Company

Mark McGettigan – Installer Magazine

Paul Harmer – Technical Director CIPHE

Dave Rhodes – Head of Technical Services Pegler Yorkshire

Phill Jackson – Marketing and Business Development Director Pegler Yorkshire

Chaired by Richard Soper the participants passionately discussed pressing issues in order to make changes in the industry for the benefit of the public.

Key issues discussed included the importance of bringing more young people into the industry via apprenticeships, encouraging installers to stand up and say they are ‘Proud to be a Professional’, as well as the installer’s role when it comes to protecting the general public – especially the elderly and vulnerable.

Richard Soper, director of development for the CIPHE commented: “We were delighted to be joined by so many experienced people from the plumbing and heating industry for today’s discussion. It was extremely valuable to hear what manufacturers, merchants and plumbing and heating engineers believe the CIPHE’s role should be in raising industry standards and promoting best practice.”

The round table commented on how the CIPHE and its members combined can help drive training via many different routes to encourage more apprenticeships and continued learning. In addition, the consortium discussed a ‘common sense’ approach to industry best practice and how this can be embedded within the day to day operations of plumbing and heating engineers.

Richard continued: “What’s clear is that communication, communication and more communication is the key to helping raise awareness of the Institute’s role with the best interests of both the trade and consumers in mind.”

Phill Jackson, marketing and business development director of Pegler Yorkshire  commented: “We were extremely proud to host the inaugural CIPHE round table.  It was really interesting to see the variety of people attending who brought with them a varied range of experience and skills from within the industry.  The discussion covered some hugely important industry topics and some noteworthy solutions were realised.”
