Introducing Quality

The quality team helps the business to create a quality culture and deliver high quality products to our customers. Our primary goals are to improve output quality, minimise variability, and reduce product risk at the front-end. This is achieved by working with cross functional teams to build quality into processes, critically assessing process performance, and providing a feedback loop to the business. Team members working in this area typically display a good understanding of engineering, a high level of tenacity, and empathy when managing challenging situations

Job Roles in Quality

  • quality engineer
  • quality inspector
  • forensic engineer
  • supplier development engineer
  • QSHE coordinator
  • works chemist
  • lab technician

Our Roles

The head of quality oversees the team to undertake continuous improvement of the quality performance within the factory. Working with customers to resolve issues, our internal teams to develop and improve systems and processes, and suppliers to improve their performance

Our quality engineers are the feedback loop for the business to understand and improve our quality performance. They lead improvement projects, assess process risk and help implement effective countermeasures, define standards for product quality, and audit product, procedures, and processes. They are also involved in managing when things don’t go to plan, facilitating appropriate containment and corrective actions and leading root cause analysis investigations into defects/failures and customer complaints

Our forensic engineer works with the field sales team, customers, and suppliers to investigate field failures and provide resolution. Field failures aren’t always because the product has failed so part of this role is also to identify where this is the case and help customers understand and improve their practices
The supplier development engineer works with our suppliers making sure that the products received meet Pegler quality standards. They liaise with suppliers where the products received do not meet quality standards, producing the appropriate reports and paperwork to notify them of these issues and following the resulting improvements to conclusion

In a role shared with health & safety, when with the quality team our QSHE coordinator works with production, engineering, and other departments to build good quality into processes and to reduce accidents & quality non-conformances, including audits of procedures and processes when required.

Our work chemist and lab technician are vital in ensuring that everything from raw material, to processing chemicals, and finished products meet the correct specification. They are also involved with investigation of product failures where materials may be the concern. Another important aspect of their job is ensuring that we meet our environmental targets.
