An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HR Advisor to join our Human Resources department, reporting into the Head of HR. The role will be 37 hours per week on a Monday to Friday shift pattern.

The purpose of the role is to deliver a proactive and consistent operational HR service to line managers and employees, giving advice and guidance on the full range of Human Resources activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To be a proactive and approachable point of contact for HR issues, escalating them if appropriate
  • Provide professional HR support and guidance relating to recruitment and selection, preparing job descriptions and adverts, placing adverts in a variety of online media (such as Linked In, Indeed), working with agencies where necessary, CV searching, shortlisting and interviewing
  • Support and participate in varied casework, including investigations and disciplinaries & grievances where appropriate alongside managers in line with company policy
  • Coach and advise managers on the full range of HR policies and procedures
  • General absence management; ensure completion of return to work interviews, undertake the Bradford scoring system and analyse cases on an individual basis
  • Make referrals to Occupational Health as appropriate – for instance new starters and sickness absence cases
  • Keep in contact with employees during long term sickness. Liaise with line managers to facilitate return to works in line with guidance received from OH/other medical professionals
  • Be the lead for the company health & wellbeing programme, including development of an annual calendar of health & wellbeing topics and initiatives to promote across the business

Qualifications and Other Requirements

  • Experience of working in a HR advisor/administrator role would be advantageous
  • Prior experience within a manufacturing organisation/unionised environment would be beneficial
  • Be passionate about establishing a career in HR, and willing to undertake a CIPD qualification to assist in development and understanding
  • Highly IT literate, able to work with Microsoft packages to produce detailed reports across HR topics
  • Able (with training) to work with HR systems including time and attendance and HR databases
  • Experience of recruitment processes and use of an applicant tracking software would be advantageous
  • Excellent time management and personal organisation skills to undertake projects and work using own initiative
  • Ideally degree educated
  • Must hold a full clean driving licence
